Private ENKA Technical Schools Psychological Counselling and Guidance Service has adopted a preventive guidance approach and therefore aims to follow a model that attaches importance to education and development.
\nIt aims to help students to:
\n– Understand themselves and their current situations properly,
\n– Establish a good balance between their personal values and the expectations of society,
\n– Express their feelings and thoughts well,
\n– Become healthy, sensitive and creative, and derive pleasure from working hard.[\/vc_column_text]

WORK WITH STUDENTS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

They are expected to learn the rules of the school.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]\u201cGetting to know each other\u201d:\u00a0<\/strong>Using various techniques, activities are conducted to get to know the students, and help them to know themselves better. Tools \u00a0(tests, questionnaires, inventories) are used which have a high degree of measurability in terms of validity and reliability.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]Individual and Group Psychological Counselling:\u00a0<\/strong>Students can request individual meetings with the psychological counselling and guidance department about any subject they need to discuss. Meetings are held by appointment.\u00a0Based on information received from the student, teachers, the family and his or her own observation, a psychological counsellor may invite a student to attend an individual meeting.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row padding_top=”30px” bg_type=”bg_color” bg_color_value=”#f5f5f5″][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]Work to determine and define students\u2019 problems:\u00a0<\/strong>The following tests are carried out:<\/p>\n

    <\/div>[\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]Seminars:\u00a0<\/strong>These are seminars on topics like:<\/p>\n

    • Introduction to occupations<\/li>\n
    • Studying efficiently<\/li>\n
    • Examination anxiety and how to overcome it<\/li>\n
    • Information about the University Entrance Examinations (\u00d6SYS)<\/li>\n
    • These seminars are given by the psychological counsellor or by experts invited to the school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Visits to universities:<\/strong>\u00a0Trips are organized to provide students with in-depth information about universities in order to help them determine their aims. These trips are organised every year for 11th graders.<\/p>\n

      Presentations of universities:\u00a0<\/strong>Students are informed about universities and their departments by visiting university representatives and by means of introductory CDs.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]Workplace visits:<\/strong>\u00a0Workplace visits are carried out with the aim of informing students about jobs, internship environments, and working conditions, and enabling them to observe these conditions on site.<\/p>\n

      Vocational guidance:\u00a0<\/strong>Members of different professions are invited to the school to provide students with information about careers.<\/p>\n

Subjects covered may include \u201cPsychological Conditions for Efficient Study\u201d, \u201cBeing the Parent of a Child Preparing for Examination\u201d and \u201cCommunicating with an Adolescent\u201d.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]Informative brochures and bulletins:\u00a0<\/strong>Informative brochures and bulletins are prepared for parents in areas where they may need help in supporting the students appropriately in their education. Experts are invited to conduct these educational programmes.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

      Counselling<\/strong>:\u00a0Once a month, interviews are carried out with classroom teachers to evaluate the academic and emotional situations of their students. During these interviews, teachers share their observations with a view to enhancing the relevance of preventive counselling work.<\/p>\n

      OTHER GUIDANCE ACTIVITIES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

      The Psychological Counselling and Guidance Service provides guidance to students with respect to \u201cDemocracy Education and the Student Council\u201d, \u201cDistribution of Students Among School Clubs\u201d, \u201cPeer Coaching\u201d and \u201cRewards and Discipline\u201d.<\/p>\n

      PEER COACHING<\/strong><\/p>\n

      The Psychological Counselling and Guidance Service held a meeting at the beginning of the school year in order to introduce the new students and their peer coaches and to help the newcomers to adapt to the school.<\/p>\n

      WORKSHOPS FOR NEW PARENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Workshops on Adolescent Developmental Stages and their Characteristics, Adolescence and Parental Attitudes and Substance Abuse have been organised for new parents in our schools.<\/p>\n

      The Psychological Counselling and Guidance Service organised a Careers Day on December 14th, 2016.<\/p>\n

      19 academics from Gebze Technical University and Kocaeli University visited the school. Three sessions were held between 13:30 and 16:00. Each session lasted 40 minutes and students chose which session to attend in accordance with their own interests. The visitors were assisted by representatives of the Student Council and the Disciplinary Committee.
