ENKA FOUNDATION

ENKA, a major international construction and industrial group from Turkey, is carrying out vital work for the benefit of society, and particularly of young people, through the ENKA Foundation. Founded in a spirit of social responsibility, the Foundation is active in the fields of education, sport and culture.

The ENKA Sport, Education and Social Assistance Foundation, to give it its full name, was founded in 1983. Its goal is to educate Turkish youth to the level of contemporary civilization, improve their abilities and bring them up as successful young citizens in Turkish society.

ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPENDENT ENTITIES

1. ENKA SPORTS CLUB FOUNDATION

This foundation aims to bring the level of sport in Turkey up to the best contemporary standards. It is active in athletics, tennis, water polo and swimming. Its activities are conducted under the supervision of expert trainers. The foundation has trained hundreds of athletes for our national teams. It also seeks to motivate young people in the realm of sports, to promote a love of sport, and to spread participation in sports all over the country.

2. ENKA CULTURE AND ART

ENKA has been delivering a respected and distinguished programme of artistic activities for the past 29 years. In summer, these cultural and artistic activities are performed in the ENKA Eşref Denizhan Open Air Theatre, which has a capacity of 1,000, while in winter and spring they take place in the ENKA İbrahim Betil Auditorium, with a capacity of 600.

3. ISTANBUL PRIVATE ENKA SCHOOLS

The construction of Istanbul Private ENKA Schools started in 1994 and was completed in quite a short time. Since then, the schools have been providing educational services using contemporary methods at the primary, secondary and high school levels. They aim to lay the intellectual and behavioural foundations that will prepare and motivate their students to develop to the full extent of their capacities, develop mental and moral habits that foster freedom of thought and action, and seek to be leading citizens of Turkey or their country of origin.

4. ADAPAZARI PRIVATE ENKA SCHOOLS

Adapazarı Private ENKA Schools were founded on the Karasu road, six kilometres from Adapazari, the centre of the province of Sakarya, whose citizens experienced a terrible earthquake on 17 August 1999. All the needs of the schools were met from a special fund set up by a decision of the management committee.

The school has since shown a tremendous improvement. It has become the cultural, artistic and sporting centre of Adapazarı with its gymnasium, swimming pool, athletics track and teacher flats, its school library comprising more than 31,000 books, and all its other facilities.

The school is now Turkey’s first Microsoft IT Academy, VUE examination centre, ECDL authorised education and examination centre, and Mediasoft education centre. Students who receive the ECDL certificate are exempted from computer classes at ten universities in Turkey.
