Literature is a fine arts activity that takes place in a dynamic context with cultural and historical motifs.

Through the Turkish language and literature course, students come to understand literary texts by perceiving their underlying qualities in terms of structure, theme, language, narration and meaning.
The use of methods such as question-and-answer sessions, brainstorming and drama encourages students to think in different ways and develop their abilities to conduct research, discuss and debate, understand and interpret, think critically and creatively, and solve problems. The most important contribution of the Turkish language and literature course is to give the students a taste for reading and help to make it a habit. Every year, outstanding works of literature are taught, providing  the students with an appreciation of the aesthetic aspects of Turkish and World literature.

The students are supported by our school library, which gives students a better understanding of books at this period of their lives. In addition, students are given project tasks which require them to demonstrate their abilities to communicate, to cooperate, to conduct research, to authenticate and to combine the opportunities provided by information technology with their own creativity.

In addition to classical methods, students’ abilities in verbal and written narration are enhanced using modern debating techniques, effective listening and speaking programmes, vocalisation and the production of short films.
