Science and Technology Vision Discussed With Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal at ENKA
Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, Rector of Istanbul Technical University and a respected academic who has played a significant role in shaping science, technology, and innovation policies in Türkiye, met with our students at our school. During the meeting, topics that play a critical role in preparing young people for the future world were discussed in depth.
In his speech, Hasan Mandal emphasized the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in the process extending from education to production. He particularly highlighted the relationship between the deep-rooted knowledge of universities and the goal of gaining global competitiveness.
During the talk, prominent fields of today such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, and the entrepreneurship ecosystem were addressed in detail, and the necessity for young people to take an active role in these areas was emphasized.
In addition to students’ academic achievements, the importance of developing skills on project creation, teamwork, and problem-solving was underlined. In this context, while referring to the contributions of TÜBİTAK Olympiads and project competitions to students’ scientific development, our school’s successful work in these areas was also presented as an example. Robotics studies, where engineering culture is reflected in practice, drew particular attention, and through the experience of one of the international platforms, the FIRST Robotics Competition, students’ competencies in producing solutions to real-world problems were evaluated.
At the end of his speech, Hasan Mandal emphasized that raising individuals who design and manage technology is no longer a choice but a necessity in today’s world. In this direction, he stated that collaborations established at the high school and university levels create a strong ecosystem for a sustainable future.
We would like to thank Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal for this valuable meeting and for sharing his knowledge and experience with our students.
We believe that this inspiring and enlightening talk, from which our students greatly benefited, will make a strong contribution to their journeys in science and technology.
’It is a privilege to be a part of the ENKA family.”
