Waterloo University Mathematics Competition

This year, our 37 students in the 9th grade category, 8 students in the 10th grade category, and 4 students from the 11th grade category participated in the Mathematics Competition organized by the Waterloo University, in Canada.

The exam, in which students are asked to answer 25 questions in 60 minutes, is evaluated out of 150 points. In the exam, which 27.880 students in the 9th grade (Pascal), 22.445 in the 10th grade (Cayley) and 19.393 in the 11th grade (Fermat) participated worldwide, our 23 students succeeded in getting in the first thousand out of 69718 students in total.

Our students with the highest scores from each level are:

– In the 9th grade category, Mehmet Can Baştemir from the Preparatory Class and Mehmet Öztürk from 9 STHS received 150 full points and were ranked among the firsts. 15 students from 9th grade throughout the world received full points in the competition.

– Mert Umut from 10 STHS in the 10th grade category took place among the firsts with 150 points. 21 students from 10th grade worldwide received full points in the competition.

– Emin Kürşat Doğan from 11 STHS got the highest score with 144 points from our school in the 11th grade category and became the 28th in the world.
