INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE

ENKA began the lengthy process of earning the IB endorsement in 2003, becoming one of the first schools in Turkey to strive to blend the highly respected International Baccalaureate curricula with that of the national Turkish criteria. Now, nearly 20 years later, we proudly embrace the title of an IB World School, with fully authorized programs in the primary (PYP), middle school (MYP) levels. Each program is overseen by the school administration, as well as program-by-program academic coordination by experts who have years of experience teaching the IB model. ENKA’s teaching staff is certified in their respected fields and receive ongoing IB training through several different opportunities offered each year, both in and outside of Turkey.

The guiding statements from which ENKA is founded align well with the IB philosophy, providing strong support to student-centered teaching and engaging learning environments.

The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The IB is a fully integrated curricula, connecting ENKA learning from many disciplines while also promoting, developing and applying characteristics held within the IB Learner Profile.

The IB learner profile represents 10 attributes valued by IB World Schools. We believe these attributes, and others like them, can help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities.
