First Prize in Innovative Campus Applications Idea Competition

The 3rd ENKA Schools Sustainability Meeting was held on Saturday, February 17, hosted by ENKA İstanbul Schools. This year’s theme was about gender equality in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The event, organized with the slogan “Women in STEM”, offered students the opportunity to gain knowledge in different fields of engineering and science, and to get to know different applications through workshops.

As a part of the Sustainability Meeting, our students Cemre Su Altay, Defne Su Altay and Öykü Akar, who represented our school with a project titled “From Leaf to Paper”, came first in the Innovative Campus Applications Idea competition.

The project aims to achieve success without harming nature by reorganizing paper production using recyclable and natural materials. Additionally, this innovative approach represents an important step in reducing natural resource use, highlighting the potential benefits for a sustainable paper industry. The resulting product has become an environmentally friendly option, contributing positively to global environmental issues, and increasing the use of natural resources to a sustainable level.

We congratulate our students and wish them continued success in all their environmental work.

We would also like to thank all the speakers and non-profit organisation representatives who shared their experiences at the event and inspired our students with their sustainability and gender equality work.
