The first of the ENKA Schools Sustainability Meetings was held on 19-20 May 2018 on the ENKA Schools Kocaeli campus.
On the first day of the program, Gökçe Yeniev from Social Innovation Lab (SOIL), Alper Akça from Alternatif Yaşam Derneği (Alternative Lifestyle Association, AYDER), and Uygar Özesmi from Good4Trust, led the students committees in discussions about waste management, human rights/discrimination and prevention of over-consumption. In addition, we hosted various NGOs, including SOIL, AHBAP Kocaeli, Patidaş, Octopus Volunteers, the Stop Women Murders Platform, Children Support Education and Education for All, and TÜBİTAK Animal Experiment Ethics Committee (HADYEK), who added color to our program by raising the awareness of our students and visitors.
On the second day of the program, the student committees explained their proposed solutions by presenting their work to the conference visitors. Pine tree saplings were given as a memento gift to our students who participated in the committees, after the closing speech of our school Principal, Hüseyin Kayan, and a viewing of the event video created by our media team. We had fun with the mini concert performed by the students from our music band, which completed this meaningful conference.
As ENKA Schools, we will continue to contribute our solutions towards a Sustainable World and Sustainable Future.
