INTRODUCTION GUIDE

A: The Science and Technology High School is a five-year program (preparatory year + 4 years) with a strong emphasis on science and mathematics. On weekdays, the national MEB curriculum is followed; on Saturdays, science olympiad training, project work, and student club activities take place. In the preparatory year, English is taught as the first foreign language and German as the second.

A: FTL is ideal for students who excel academically, have disciplined study habits, can actively engage in project work, and have an interest in science olympiads. Students with strong quantitative skills — especially in mathematics, science, and computer science — are the best fit. The long-term goal for FTL students is to rank among the top in the university entrance exam (YKS) and gain admission to leading engineering and medicine programs at top universities in Türkiye and abroad.

A: Yes. These schools share common traits: highly selective admissions, intensive STEM curricula, and very high academic standards. Notable examples include Andover, Stuyvesant, and Bronx Science in the USA, and Lycée Louis Le Grand, Lycée Henri IV, and Swiss Gymnasium schools in Europe.

A: Being accepted to FTL is a significant achievement. Students who rank within a certain percentile based on their LGS results are invited to take the school’s entrance exam; the entrance exam score and LGS score are combined to create the final ranking. However, the real journey begins after acceptance. Each student receives olympiad preparation courses tailored to their interests and strengths.

A: Anatolian High School students may choose between quantitative, equal-weight, or verbal tracks, whereas FTL focuses heavily on quantitative subjects alongside intensive science olympiad preparation. FTL students receive advanced English instruction and concentrate on their chosen olympiad branch, with the goal of entering top quantitative university programs.

A: ENKA Science and Technology High School does not accept transfer students from other schools during the program. Enrollment is only open for the preparatory year, at the point of transition from middle school to high school.

A: The ENKA Sports, Education and Social Aid Foundation provides a scholarship to all students enrolled in FTL. Under this scholarship, students receive 100% free education. For Istanbul ENKA FTL, the scholarship also covers boarding accommodation. No repayment is required after graduation.

A: In the preparatory year, students’ subject inclinations are identified; they attend classes across all olympiad branches before focusing on the one where they show the most promise. Olympiad classes are held after regular school hours on weekdays and on weekends. ENKA Schools students win an average of 30 medals per year, accounting for 1 in every 5 medals awarded nationally. In 2024, both Turkish students who won gold medals at international science olympiads were ENKA students.

A: Every student is expected to complete at least one research project per year. Projects are submitted to national and international competitions such as TÜBİTAK High School Research Projects, TEKNOFEST, and ISEF. Past achievements include 4th place in Physics at ISEF and national first-place awards at TEKNOFEST in disability-friendly technologies and health technologies.

A: Yes. All FTL students join the in-school YKS preparation course starting from 11^th grade, held on weekends. The course intensifies further in 12^th grade.

A: A joint summer school is organized for students from Istanbul, Kocaeli, and Sakarya ENKA FTL campuses. The program includes English language courses, project classes, science olympiad sessions, as well as trips, sports, arts, and cultural activities.

A: Study sessions are organized after regular school hours on weekdays. Students work one-on-one or in small groups with teachers on topics they wish to reinforce. Advanced activities such as debate, drone soccer, and social responsibility projects are also carried out during these sessions.

A: A dedicated counselor is assigned to each grade level. Services include individual sessions, group guidance, orientation programs, and peer mentoring. In addition to academic achievement, students’ social adjustment and overall well-being are actively supported.

A: The official weekly schedule approved by the MEB Board of Education and Discipline is followed. Students attend 9 hours of classes per day. After weekday classes, study sessions are held; on weekends, science olympiad training, cultural, arts, sports, and laboratory activities take place.

A: Elective Turkish Language & Literature, Elective History, Elective Geography, Science Applications, Mathematics Applications, Introduction to Genetics, Introduction to Medical Science, Astronomy and Space Sciences, Information Technologies and Software, Project Design and Applications, Mechatronic Systems, Fundamentals of Engineering and Technology, and more.

A: No. The preparatory year focuses on English, German, and foundational olympiad courses. In 9th grade, study sessions in the chosen olympiad branch intensify. In grades 10–12, the goal shifts to earning TÜBİTAK medals and making the national team; in grades 11–12, olympiad preparation and YKS preparation run in parallel.

A: The MEB secondary education regulations apply. Success is measured not only by written exam performance but also by active class participation, exemplary conduct, involvement in social activities, and project work. Students must maintain the academic standards set by the ENKA Foundation to retain their scholarship.

A: Yes. FTL students begin their olympiad classes 2–3 weeks before the school year starts. Mid-term and semester breaks are shorter compared to students at other schools.

A: After LGS results are announced, students who fall within the required percentile range register for the school’s entrance exam through the school website. The entrance exam score and LGS score are combined to form the final ranking, from which the main and waitlist enrollment lists are created.

A: The exam covers the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade curriculum. Practicing reading comprehension, critical thinking, and science olympiad-style questions is sufficient. The exam includes questions in Turkish, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology.

A: Boarding is available exclusively at Istanbul ENKA FTL. Accommodation is provided 7 days a week in two separate dormitory buildings for girls and boys. As of 2025–2026, 59 boarding students from 17 different provinces across Turkey are enrolled.

A: Three meals per day plus an evening snack, laundry, drying, and ironing services, school infirmary, and healthcare services through a partner private hospital are all provided. All services are covered under the ENKA Foundation scholarship at no cost. The dormitory is 100 meters from the high school building and 200 meters from the athletics track and tennis courts.

A: Graduates continue their education at prestigious universities in Turkey and abroad. Examples: One of our graduates from Boğaziçi University is now pursuing a PhD at Stanford University. One graduate received a full scholarship to MIT. Another graduate completed their degree at Koç University and is now pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Cambridge.

A: Parents are expected to regularly follow school communications, encourage their children’s participation in study sessions and extracurricular activities, collaborate with the school on guidance matters, and engage with recommended solutions when needed.
