As ENKA Schools, we attach great importance to our students’ development of high level mathematical skills and their engagement in scientific studies. As such, we support their participation in national and international competitions.
Within the framework of national competitions, the National Science Olympics is organized by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) every year in order to encourage students to conduct research in the sciences.
Students who are successful in the first stage of the two-stage elimination process for the National Science Olympics are invited to the second stage exam. Students prepare for the second stage exam through summer and winter school activities run by academicians who are experts in their fields.
Students who succeed in the second stage will represent our country in various world science olympics.
The olympic topics determined by TUBITAK generally cover the Middle School education curriculum as well as the additional subjects. Students who engage in these studies will be at more of an advantage in their university exams than their peers in their olympic areas of study.
Olympic students will be one step ahead in their undergraduate and graduate studies by attracting the attention of their professors with the proficiency they have gained. In short, with the Olympic studies, students take the first step to becoming scientists.
Our ENKA Mathematics Olympic Team organized a two-week Olympic Summer Camp which was held between 17-28 June 2019. The camp was attended by a Middle School team consisting of 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students as well as a High School team of 9 students from Prep and 9th grade. In the 72-hour program, Grade 11 level Geometry, Trigonometry, Complex Numbers, and Modular Arithmetic were studied. In addition, Euclid’s Theorem, Fermat’s Theorem, and China’s Remainder Theorem– university level concepts– were studied.
As in previous years, we started the mathematics olympics studies with a pre-test to measure and evaluate how ready of all the readiness of our students. We have established the Mathematics Olympic Group and Advanced Mathematics Group with students who have sufficient interest, ability, and prior math knowledge.
Prepared meticulously by our experienced and well-equipped teachers, the Olympic and Advanced Mathematics program will be held regularly every week for our Prep and Grade 9 students.
As a result of the pre-test, which was attended by 65 Middle School students and 27 Hİgh School students, mathematics Olympic teams of 16 people were formed at both Middle and High School level for the 2019-2020 academic year, joining last year’s team, who continue their participation this year as well.
